Got hired on the spot, then received a rejection email a few hours later

Main Post:

I had an interview today and the manager of 5 years hired me on the spot. She spent about 1/3 of the interview talking about training and what happens now that I'm hired. She was really nice and offered me a higher salary than what I had jotted down.

About 6 hours later, I got an email replying to my application saying that I got rejected and are looking on to other candidates. It seems like a mass email and replies to it are undeliverable.

It's only a seasonal retail job so it's no big deal I was just really excited for it. And it's my second real job. I am going to call tomorrow morning. Any tips on approaching this situation smoothly?

Update: All these comments have been so nice, thank you to everyone! I called them today, as I couldn't find their store email online. It was the managers day off. The associate said it was odd that I received the email and I left her a message to give the manager.

I read a comment on here saying the same thing happened to them when their company removed the job listing on indeed after they got hired. I checked and the ad is now gone.

Hopefully the next update will be me saying that I 100% got the job. 😅 I have a current job right now that overlaps the availability I put in for the new job, so I'm quite worried about that if I did get hired. I'll probably make a separate post on that.

UPDATE 2: I GOT THE JOB(for real)!!! The manager said it was a glitch. I start next week 😁

Thank you to everyone who gave me extra reassurance and tips.

Email the manager confirming your show date /time for day 1. Very possible there's a disconnect between her level and corporate level.

#1 in waitlist. Spot available. No email

Main Post:

A spot has been available since Wednesday for a class I want and I am #1 on waitlist. However, I have not received any emails to register. Does anyone know why?

Top Comment:

Same situation here. I got to #0, then the class flat-out disappeared from my student schedule (viewed by course section). Never got an email, so I just put myself back on the waitlist and started all over again. :/
